Understanding Alzheimer's

It is an interesting paradox with one stricken with Alzheimer’s. You are confined, yet bound by nothing. Life is structured, yet unpredictable. You are capable of boundless love, yet intense violence. The same routines can lead to completely different reactions from one day to the next. Change has no consequence. Lucid moments combine complete nonsense with profound introspection. Raging emotions and meaningless churn and twist in awkward harmony. The more we come to know about Alzheimer’s, the less we understand. Like a box of knick-knacks, we know the true person is buried in there, somewhere at the bottom, if we just keep digging.
